our services include

CNC Milling

Milling is the process of removing material from a solid block to create a finished or semi-finished shape. The process is guided by a CAD file, optimized to create a physical copy of your digital design. With investments in the latest and fastest technology available to us, we can machine to tight tolerances, high finish and fastest turnaround times available.

CNC Routing

Whilst similar to the CNC Milling machine, our CNC router can accommodate full sheet material cutting and multiple parts can be produced from a single set up. With an 8 station Automatic Tool Changer, we can cut, drill and countersink etc. – all in one operation.

Turning

Turning involves holding the work piece in a horizontally-mounted, adjustable spindle. As the work piece rotates, various cutting tools are applied to the piece to create circular shapes and features like rings, grooves, slots, contours, radii, internal bores and threads. On our turning mills, an extra axis of movement allows us to work perpendicular to the lathe spindle for making square faces or boring holes. This opens up many new machining possibilities.

Fabrication

At Plastek Engineering we have 20 years’ experience and knowledge to fabricate many different products through bending, folding and plastic welding processes.

Reverse Engineering

Mechanical Reverse engineering involves the processes of capturing the physical shape of a part by measurement and digitisation and then using this to recreate or remanufacture the part, or an assembly of similarly processed parts.

Panel Saw Cutting

Panel saws are used to cut large panels into smaller sizes using a variety of different toothed saw blades for different material applications. Simple cut to size sheets or mitre cut edges can be achieved.

Design and Modelling

Let us turn your own concept into a finished product. We can work closely with our client to enable a smooth transition from an idea to a functioning component.

Prototyping

A prototype is an early sample, model, or release of a product built to test a concept or process. Our prototyping process can consist of several small changes to create a proof of concept before mass production begins.

Laser Cutting

Our laser cutting service can cut and engrave many different materials such as: acrylics, woods, foam, leather, cardboard, cork plus much more.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is CNC Machining?
CNC Machining is a subtractive manufacturing method that uses cutting tools to remove material from a block of raw material or a pre-existing part. Advanced software is used to control the equipment according to the specification of your 3D design. Our team of engineers and machinists program the equipment to optimize cutting time, surface finish and final tolerance to meet your specifications.
What file format should I send?

We can work with several different file formats such as:
DXF.
DWG.
AI.
STEP.
STL .
IGES.
Plus more.

What material should I use?
Our staff here at Plastek Engineering have 20 years’ experience and knowledge to offer advice on the best material options for your application.
